Thomas Wheeler (a.k.a. "Thomas the Elder") "of the Blakehowse" called himself a yoeman and owned property in both the Towne and of Bourne End of Cranfield.

Thomas left a will on December 29, 1627, at Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England.  In this will Thomas provided well for his wife Rebecca, using the customary stipulation "for and during the term of her life if she keep herself a widow," to insure property would go to the children after her death.  He also named eleven children, including "Thomas ,my eldest son" and "Thomas, my youngest son" (a common practice of the time, so if one son died young, the other was left to carry on the father's family name). A full transcript of the will can be found on page 505 in "Fifty Great Immigration Colonists to New England & Their Origins."
