Jason Wheeler married his wife Christena Schlief in Auburn Township, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin.

In December 1854 Jason Wheeler bought 40 acres of land from his father Alanson.

Jason was a Civil War Veteran, a Wisconsin Volunteer, 12th Infantry, Company D.  Jason joined the Wisconsin volunteers on February 17, 1864, at age 34 for a period of three years during the Civil War.  His rank was a Private and he was paid a bounty for signing up of $60.00.  He was wounded at the Battle of Peach Tree Creek north of Atlanta, Georgia, on July 21, 1864, with gun shot wound to the left arm at the elbow.

Jason was honorably discharged July 16, 1865, in Louisville, Kentucky.  Mable Castner, Jason’s granddaughter, stated he walked home to Wisconsin from Louisville, Kentucky.  Betty Westby, Jason’s great, great granddaughter states a member of her family has the walking stick/cane he used on his walk home.

Jason’s military pension was initially $4.00 a month.  He petitioned several times for increases due to increased disability from his war wounds.  At the time of his death, 1906, he was receiving $24.00 a month, which was the same amount he had been receiving since 1887.  His Pension Certificate was No. 97637.

Mabel Wheeler Castner and Harold Wheeler, grandchildren of Jason, can recall times when Jason had flashbacks of the Civil War incidents.  At these times, they recall having to chase him through the woods of Concord and the street of West Concord, Minnesota.  Jason lived with his son, George Wheeler, in Concord, and with another son Charles Wheeler, in West Concord.

In 1867, Alanson, Eldridge, and Jason Wheeler along with their families moved to Concord, Minnesota.  Other families that moved from Wisconsin to Concord, Minnesota, along with the Wheelers were Abraham Childs, Belden N. Sischo, L.O. Sischo, Kelsey Ballard, Thomas Caldwell, Herbert Snow.  All except, Alanson Wheeler, were Wisconsin Volunteers for the Civil War and is so stated on their gravestones at Concord Cemetery in Dodge County, Minnesota.

Jason and his wife Christena are buried in the Concord Cemetery in Concord, Dodge County, Minnesota.
